Raw, rough, natural, neutral materials contrasted with neon brights is heaven. No need for sunglasses for this scheme. The trick is to avoid synthetics, plastics and add dabs of colour.

Neon is everywhere at the moment. This bright and loud 80s pop influence is a chance to have some fun experimenting in creating a sophisticated upbeat space which will make family and friends envy you for a very long time.

Storage Solution by i29

Instantly you know something is a good idea when you here yourself say "I can do that".

All you need is some MDF,  jigsaw and a little bit of imagination. This Amsterdam apartment titled Home 07 features a series of cabinets with laser-cut holes which double as handles.

Dutch interior architects i29 have created what could be a very bland white open plan kitchen and living area into an environment full of depth, creativity and a place to hide and show off the owners belongings.

I love it and want to have a go with my wardrobe in my bedroom! Wish me luck.

Up & Coming - This Week

Hi everyone. I wanted to give you a snapshot of what I'm going to be sharing on Welcome Home - a guide to modern living this week. I'm going to try and theme each week and give you more structure on this site.

This week is not just about creating a machine to live in. It is about creating a place that is beautiful and functional. It's about creating a place that frames our complex patterns of living, while leaving room for individual experiences.

Lets underpin the needs of where we live while still having freedom for expression.

See You Monday!

It's time to break the rules! SPLISH, SPLASH and FLICK! No more painting within the lines, no more stress if the paint drips on the floor and Hallelujah if your toddler or teenager gets wild with paint on a wall or your latest sketch for a new design.

Doom, Gloom and Stress is a constant theme in the world. I don't know about you but it feels like a very wet blanket has hung from many shoulders which is exhausting.

FUN, FREEDOM and FRESHNESS is my new theme! For me this approach to design is sticking two fingers up and saying thanks for your advice but I will take it from here.

I know some of you think I've gone mad but why not find your inner Jackson Pollock on an old  tablecloth and tell me if it puts a smile on your face.
